Could this possibly be the new Amy Winehouse? I mean yeah she is not as dark as Amy is, but her voice really reminds me of her! Obviously, you have to take away all the tattoos, the make-up and the drugs... oh and recently the Grammies!
Now the song itself is quite cute, sth between Amy and Feist but definitely soothing on a Monday morning! Also, with Valentine's day coming up, I am sure you will listen to this in a bar or restaurant somewhere. Finally, the video is kinda cool too... and no, before you start wondering, I am not in love!

Alphabeat - Fascination

I seem to be going though a Scandinavian phase atm... so after Sweden (Melody Club) comes Denmark (Alphabeat). This is their latest video as far as I know. Beware... it is extremely gay! It also made me realise how much damage Mika has done..!

Yet another Swedish band... pretty cool, sth between Synthpop and Glam rock. And yes, the song was in FIFA 08 by EA Sports, and yes the guy is kinda creepy.

Originally produced by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, this is one of the best re-edits of 2007! This video was made by some random guy but I think it's far better than the official music video of the song... shows exactly how the drugs kick in.

Heard this in a funky bar in downtown Athens the other night. First I thought it was a cover of the tune in the Sony Bravia ad (you know the one with the bouncing balls in the streets of San Fransisco), but it turns out it's the other way around. So there you go... originally produced by The Knife... much much better than Jose Gonzalez's cover I say.

Finally, a new band I like! And it's all thanks to my friend .tsouk who just came back from Japan and was carrying this little gem hidden in his hard drive. Capsule (カプセル) are a Shibuya-kei group, consisting of vocalist Toshiko Koshijima and producer Yasutaka Nakata. Most of the songs in the album are in English with some in Japanese. So Britney - the bItCh apparently - is back and everyone has been talking about her recent performance at the 2007 VMAs. All I have to say is that the new song is really catchy and I believe it is going to be all over clubs the next few months. As far as her performance goes, she was definitely on to sth and yes she is trashing her image but isn't that the way to go? Will you ever again think of Britney as a virgin teen, "I will show you my pussy but you can't touch" pop queen? Mission accomplished!

True Believer

They are getting sooo much better! This was the third time I saw the Dragonette live and I must say they totally deserve everyone's attention! Relaxed and full of energy, they managed to almost make me faint. I was so close I could just hug Tina. I had a chat with her after the gig and she told me that they currently live in London, that her best friend in Canada is Greek or Canadian-Greek (dunno...) and that they will play again live in London before the end of August.

Those Sounds from beloved Sweden are quickly becoming my favorite band at the mo... I think I even like them more than the Dragonettes!!! (OMG, can't believe I even said that...)
Btw, all you true believers out there, stay tuned because on Wednesday I am going with G. to see the Dragonettes live for the second time. Hopefully, I will come back with some goodies...
